Eyal Booker on Celebs Go Dating and what he’s like in a relationship
He stole our hearts on Love Island, and now Eyal is heading back to our screens for the next series of Celebs Go Dating. We had an exclusive chat with him about looking for love, lessons from Love Island and why he’s happy both single and in a relationship. Needless to say, the chat got deep.
How are you feeling about Celebs Go Dating?
‘I’m feeling great about Celebs Go Dating. It gives me another chance to find love and everyone’s looking for love in this world, aren’t they? It’s been exciting so far and there’s a lot of self-discovery in it.’
What kind of self-discovery?
‘Just learning about yourself and about what I’m doing right and what I’m doing wrong. We’re on the show for a reason – because, I guess, we haven’t done so well, so we now have dating agents who can shed some light.’
You’ve already started filming the show and it’s out in October. What has been your experience so far?
‘It has been a good experience so far. I can’t give too much away on that. But, look, I’m looking for a genuine connection with someone.’
What’s it like going on dates with ordinary members of the public?
‘I like normal people – I am a normal person!’
And what would your ideal partner be like?
‘You know, I get asked this question a lot but it’s not that simple. I don’t really have a type, it’s just someone that you vibe with, that you connect with. I hate to say it, but it’s almost like when you know you know. There’s that spark. And I want a mental attraction and a physical attraction, on both levels. I don’t want one or the other – I want both.’
Do you think you are happier single or in a relationship?
‘I think I try to be happy regardless. You have to have self-happiness in order to really be happy in a relationship. But it’s always nice to have a companion – someone to share your life experiences with and those ups and those downs . And someone to snuggle with -everyone likes a cuddle!’
What are you like in a relationship?
‘I think I’m a pretty attentive boyfriend. I like to make my girlfriend feel like they’re the most special person in the world. I’d like to think I’m a gentleman and I just do me, really.’
How will Celebs Go Dating be different to Love Island?
‘With Love Island you don’t get a chance to think because once you’re with someone you’re with them, and then it either goes well or, in my case, it doesn’t go so well. Whereas Celebs Go Dating, I get to go on a date and then go home, have a little drink to myself and think, “was that good or was that not?” I can talk to my mates and gauge if it’s something that I’m interested in or not.’
